Are you publishing something publicly on the web? It IS meant to be PUBLIC. If someone is looking for half-measures, they should start printing flyers and hand them out at their local church or town square.

Maybe the real anti-bot protection on the internet is security through obscurity by moving away from the (((clearnet and/or web))) and putting out your stuff on darknets and/or alt-protocols (like Gemini) which those Actually Indian bots haven't infested (yet?).

They still appear to be using it for their archives a year later so it's presumably still efficient.

Sure, there are ways to circumvent anti-bot systems and I'd be surprised if AI companies didn't use them but most bots seem to be much more primitive than that. (edit: to quote the report: "Passing a challenge requires a cryptographic proof-of-work. The client has to expend some computational effort using Javascript to calculate a sha256 hash expected by the server. Most bots don’t execute Javascript, so they can’t pass.")
