DuskOS and UNIX, Who is better?
DuskOS and UNIX, Who is better?

!
Dusk OS is a 32-bit Forth and big brother to Collapse OS.
Im here to see your thoughts about this OS.
Personally i prefer Dusk because it is a lot simpler than UNIX and it is based
on Forth which is better than C.

Re: DuskOS and UNIX, Who is better?
Ported it to what?
Soon? What are you waiting for? What are you using currently? What are you going to use for hardware?
Operated for what to do what?
We need real concrete examples here lol

i ported subleq language to Dusk assembler port[https://codeberg.org/tecknian/dusk-subleq]
im waiting for UNIX code compatibility layer to be complete, for now im using derivelinux.
i hope i can use better hardware.
In Dusk you dont use dusk, you operate it, you can do anything with your dusk system:
# Operator!
Dusk OS doesn't have users, but *operators*. What's the difference? Control.
You *use* a phone, you *use* a coffee machine, hell you even *use* a car these
days. But you *operate* a bulldozer, you *operate* a crane, you *operate* a
plane.
You *use* Linux, you *use* Windows. You *operate* Dusk OS.

No 64bit?
Seems like it might be limiting. Even if we apocalypse or whatever, a lot of the systems available are gonna be 64bit.

Re: DuskOS and UNIX, Who is better?
you dont need 64bit support, they have dusk-on-linux, which can make dusk available for every machine

Re: DuskOS and UNIX, Who is better?
Why run an OS inside of an OS? That's double the complexity. Unless we are doing VPS hosting or something.tecknian1 wrote: Sat Sep 05, 2026 10:16 am you dont need 64bit support, they have dusk-on-linux, which can make dusk available for every machine
I could run Inferno instead, or anything else on top of anything else.

Re: DuskOS and UNIX, Who is better?
dusk-on-linux isn't UNIX, it is just a compatibility layer that will eventually be replaced by duskOS
also it doesn't mean it is more complex, because you are not going to use linux normally, you will use dusk internals not linux internals, linux api will be only for specific stuffs.
