PRISM is also the name of that NSA surveillance program, so was this a distraction perhaps?
In the documentary Out of Shadows, Katy Perry is named as one of the Hollywood outlets (in the intro and at 48 minutes and 25 seconds, and 1 hour and 8 minutes and 40 seconds).
How come Katy Perry named her 2014 album "PRISM"?

Re: How come Katy Perry named her 2014 album "PRISM"?
Looked it up and it released a few months after the PRISM program disclosure, so it would be a particularly shitty distraction if it were one. Is there anything that could be interpreted as related to the surveillance program on the album? If not, probably not related. Or whoever decided on the album title saw the term 'PRISM' and liked the word. Wikipedia tells me the album is supposed to be more 'mature' and 'personal' than her other albums so maybe it's just trying to invoke the imagery of an optical prism as a metaphor for her showing her true inner colors or whatever
