It shouldn't be a crime prosecuted by the state, instead a citizen (including the president) should be legally allowed to duel someone to the death for insulting his wife's honor

I don't necessarily disagree. What bothers me is the power imbalance, because the pleb can be mocked in all kinds of ways by the elites, and has no real ways of resisting.
