My highlights:
- Many of the politicians in there are gamers and support the initiative, though with some reservations.
- Some of them bring up the fact that video games are not just a "product" but also culture, art, etc. I like this development.
- Too many talk about "balanced" and "proportionate" response which to me hides cucking to business.
- Some bring up copyright as being a problem. Even though AI companies literally scanned the entire internet and stole everything, and no one cares... law needs to adapt to modern realities, or at least be consistent! If you're going to ban people from reverse engineering, setting up private servers, etc. Then AI companies should be banned from stealing independent people's creations just as much. Or alternatively just give up the entire notion of copyright. Either way be consistent!
- Some Polish cuckservative politician didn't like the initiative and instead simply proposed "transparency". As in the business will be required to tell you how they are cucking you, but with nothing protecting you from getting cucked. This isn't the way.
- Several of the speakers don't appear to know English language and had to be talked over by some narrator... these people make decisions for us...
- Many of the politicians who support the initiative still are hesistant to put burdens on the business. Like they will say "we don't want the servers to be funded forever by the companies" blah blah. Even though the profits from these games are giant and this could easily be done.
- Some of the politicians brought up the point that "we need to not only consider consumer rights, but building a competing european game industry against China, USA, blah blah". Personally I don't give a shit about that. Consumer rights are king. To me it just means they will cuck to business and nothing will come out of the initiative.
- Super based speech at 20:31 - 22:19 by a young woman who calls out some commission big shot for cucking to business. Really funny! Essential watching even if you don't want to watch the entire thing. These kind of people are ones we need in government, not frozen boomers...
- Another based pokemon fan speech at 41:16. "Our legal system should learn from Charizard and evolve"
- One guy complained about "wokeness" invading gaming and the excessive monetization practices, which is maybe valid but not really fitting here I guess.
Again, there's some hope but I doubt anything will actually come out of it and I expect the final decision will be too subservient to business. They promised a decision "before summer". But let me say, it's the most hope I've had for a citizen-driven legal initiative ever. If we lose this - with 1.3 million signatures collected from all over Europe - then the legal system is dead to me.
