What do you guys actually use your computer for?

mostly writting, hoarding data, some scripting, exercizing my brain by reading and trying out new stuff (books are quite expansive, honestly) and accessing non-js websites, but what about YOU?

I strongly believe that computers are essentially virtual workspaces. For example, you can read a book in real life, but you can also read a virtual book on a screen. In that sense, a computer is a miniature version of reality.

Ninety-nine percent of people use computers for communication and connectivity, not for computing alone.

Think about it: if your computer did not support connectivity, it could be called a calculator—or a “complex calculator.”

Calculators can be Turing-complete, if you think about it. They would only need some I/O ports. Then they would be computers, right?

That is why people do not always call their phones “computers.” They buy them as mobile devices. The same applies to PCs, calculators, and VR devices. They may all be Turing-complete, but they have evolved toward different purposes, such as communication, connectivity, and input/output.

In general, try not to use computers when you can accomplish the same task in real life with equal efficiency, power, and speed.

Everything you do on a computer can be acomplished in real life, I don't think they are anything crazy but more like a "extension of one's will"
A computer is just running a bunch of simple concataned instructions that do complex stuff (like playing a video), a computer is only usable for someone who have enough creativity(anyone with a baseline iq of 100) to do a task efficiently with it's utilities
and I do think people should avoid computers when they can do the same thing with the same efficiency in real life, a lot of people love to use things like xmpp for secure IM, but never think about going to their friends' houses and put the phones in the closet, it's even safer because you aren't using the internet!!!!

the one i'm writing from right now is just for general internet access, though what i do on it is rather poor:
i end up watching the same shit on invidious (i've been into goanimate compilations due to how absurd they are, but also some essay videos that i wish were just text) maybe with some variations. i wish i didnt but it's too easy for me, might change later though
go down topics that interest me suddenly to find intriguing websites to maybe bookmark and then forget about them (looking at my recent history, i found pages on windows bootlegs, smegma, yukkuris (after getting intrigued by yukkuri abuse), a japanese saying)
going to libgen to get some books (or ones that ive found irl to see if i can hoard them easier)
checking rss feeds on liferea
lurking sites
lurking MUDs/MUSHs
lurking 4chan archives (only good use of it nowadays)
lurking, sometimes posting in other forums

i do actual creative things on another laptop i have (writing, drawing, music(?))

i might as well go over more of what i don't do (as much) on the internet
i don't do much communication on chatrooms, the one i'm in is a fetish-oriented mush, which means the same annoying horny talk ive seen on the internet since 2020, and i lost the details for the one i wanted to talk in like an idiot since it looked like a promising rp place.
i got tired of synchronic communication after hosting one on a piece of shit niche platform (not linking it but it's 'ace attorney online') with what is essentially a twitter userbase. if i still had it up, "ssh'ing into my server" would have been a point
vidya is utter dregs, though i only have the one game on my phone
i absolutely refuse to work online, partially due to my autistic set up which guarantees less sites will work on my device but also because i don't want to be even more attached to the internet than i already am
