Definitely, although I wonder why is the humanoid design pushed so hard, it's not like anyone would find these friendly and something like a canid design (see the boston dynamics dog robot which has already been tested for use by police) would seem significantly more efficient for policing/combat use.

Just my guess, but (many / most of) the so-called elites are transhumanists and by making them humanoid they want to make you feel deprecated.

Eventually they’ll coat them in a skin-like substance and use them to convincingly infiltrate any resistance movement, of course. After all, OP does mention the Terminator.

However, if we believe in benevolent intentions of the manufacturers, it’s most likely because we can use them as a drop-in replacement for hard and tedious labor such as those on farms and in factories.
