What do you think about AI, overall?

I think some of those had already been employed for a while before the tech went public (I refuse to believe that the idea of feeding tons of data into a large-language model was conceived of only now, the elites had to have it beforehand). I'm sure the surveillance and prediction-related stuff was used on people who threaten them. Internet has been full of AI bots for way longer, used for controlling the public opinion. I've personally seen strange replies where it doesn't seem a user was able to parse the semantic meaning of what they're replying to properly. Some of what we saw on the news was probably AI video (remember the strange looking videos of Joe Biden for instance?).

Yeah it's been around for a while. AI CCTV admitted since 2014 for example (search for "Nice Safe City Solutions").

I think that the worst part about AI is that alot of people end up kind of brainwashed, as if AI becomes their new brain, i genuinly saw people that end up using AI daily because they can't think by themself or do simple web searches, they just ask AI directly. It's as if simple tasks they used to be able to do, became something they are unable to do without AI. Terrifying when you think about it, it's like some sort of lobotomy. + for instance, code generated by AI is true garbage. Really do hope all that AI slop bubble ends up popping because it's tiring.

You shouldn’t conflate bubble with hype. It’s a tool with advantages and disadvantages like any other. I neither actively use it nor like it all that much, but it’s up to the individual to consider if it should be a part of his toolbox.

We’ve had the same situation about 15 years ago with "The Cloud" (or "someone else’s computer" as I like to call it). The Cloud was all the rage and you had to put everything in The Cloud otherwise you just weren’t in with the times. Until eventually all the buzzword died down. So? Cloud-based services are still here and people use them for what it’s worth it’s just that no one is making a big deal out of it anymore. I predict AI (or "hallucination device" as I like to call it) is heading in the same direction.
