Why does everything seemingly keep changing, but nothing actually fundamental does?

- We still stick kids into schools, in the age of widespread internet where anyone could learn anything. You can even have a personal AI assistant to create you teaching materials, graphs, etc. We still give useless ratings, we still pretend kids can't socialize in any other way, etc.
- We still have a worthless representative democracy system which gives zero power to the average person all while different systems have been analyzed for at least decades, maybe centuries or even longer.
- We still need to "justify our lives" and "work for a wage" all while jobs are increasingly disappearing. There are still useless "job centers". Unemployed people are still shunned. Wealth inequality is getting bigger and bigger.
- We still have poverty while space travel and other useless crap is being done.
- We still have a "nuclear family" system while the very easily researched problem of parental abuse is completely unaddressed. We still pretend CPS or foster homes do anything to solve it while the kid could just choose his substitute family through the internet or live in a community, etc.
- We still have wars and militarism and in fact increasing amounts of money spent on those while taking away essentialities from the disabled. We still have the cruel draft and outdated ideas about "masculinity" where the man is supposed to be "strong" meaning endure all kinds of abuse without squeaking.
- Our "justice system" relies on police and courts which are not only too slow and inefficient and don't catch everyone, but rely on arbitrary laws which punish thousands of completely irrelevant things like panhandling, "loitering" (made up word), selling stuff on the streets, protesting, etc. If you have a high position you will never be punished. The biggest criminals like Fauci or Zelensky will stay untouched while the grandma is dragged for feeding pigeons.
- Disabled people are treated like total junk and shoved into the same regime as the "normal". It starts in school where you still must learn at the same pace, still receive ratings, still endure bullying for your sickness, etc. No school reform cares to fix that (I've looked at several gov policies). No one says ANYTHING about this other than me AFAIK.
- Advertisements are getting more and more advanced, now using AI. But they are still advertisements and brainwashing us, and no one realizes it. They are not being taken down other than by a few angry anarchists. No systemic fix is being proposed.
- There is all this talk about environmentalism but pollution is not really being touched. We are deforestating at a massive rate, we are poisoning the entire ecosystem with microplastics and who knows what other undiscovered crap, etc.
- There are all these inventions, science, AI, etc. And all of it does nothing for the average person. AI mostly helps you integrate with the cruel systems that already exist, but does nothing to take them down. Many jobs now need AI expertise, you need AI to write resumes, you get interviewed by an AI bot, etc. You can use it to solve homework but school shouldn't exist so...
- Cryptocurrency is a worthy invention to avoid banks and make instant money transfers between individuals possible, but doesn't do anything to solve wealth inequality, still needs internet and electricity, etc. It also allows easier scamming, hacking, etc. Doesn't change the relations between people in terms of how you need to fight for your monetary position and survival.

I could add more but this is getting too long already. It seems all the world's changes are minor details like "who was elected" or even make things worse. How to reverse course? Why does no one care and is happy to plunge with their entire naked body into the dystopia?

Schools continue to exist because nobody does anything for them to disappear.

Because nobody does anything powerful enough to break this system.

What did you expect? I doubt people who own large corporations want to share their revenue. The same is applied to people in government. They are greedy and have good positions to silently destroy almost everyone else with starvation. Everything works as designed.
Moreover, if we had UBI it would only be used as a tool of control. Everyone gets enough money just not to die from hunger. Everything else goes for surveillance systems, wars, AI "revolution", etc. Some of bullet points I skip have the same cause. People who go out with flags and posters never made people in power scared. There is no clear reason "they don't want us to go to the streets" and "they don't want us to talk about XYZ" will work. People in power understand only the language of violence and the language of money.

Because nobody actually wants to do something with poverty. If everyone will have enough money to live well population will increase. Overpopulation is already a problem.

Can't see any other reason than a social ignorance but maybe there is.

Because advertisements are not considered as dangerous in society. Nobody complains => no need to remove it.

Cryptocurrency doesn't do anything to solve the wealth inequality because it's not designed for this task. Scamming and hacking can be done with all the digital money. It's mostly users' guilt.

This is the one I’m the most pissed off about. All our waters are filled with so much micro plastic that consuming fish is now a health hazard. Land is polluted with so many chemicals that most people are born or grow up disfigured. Yet nobody cares. Instead we have this misguided green agenda about CO2 that has a near zero impact on anything. It’s a scam to funnel billions into projects without any outcomes. But perhaps this is a discussion for another topic.

"Bread and games" as ancient Romans used to say. It doesn’t matter how bad we have it as long as there is plenty of comfort and distraction to go about. TV with content that makes you forget about your daily troubles. Pharmaceuticals that ease your pain. Plenty of food and booze at every grocery store. Internet with readily available porn. Why complain and risk loosing all that?

Oh, I meant if there’s already a thread about it I can chime in with some of my own findings. I don’t have in-depth knowledge about this topic to carry a thread. I mostly read results presented by independent researchers in various health-related articles because that is one of my side interests. Here’s a gist of it for those curious:

• CO2: It just a molecule that plants use for breathing. Technically, more of it is beneficial, because more carbon dioxide results in greener nature. There’s nothing that suggests CO2 emissions are to blame for current environmental disasters. This is elementary school grade knowledge, but somehow schools are useless at teaching even useful stuff. Basically, it’s a bogeyman much like cholesterol is to health. And don’t even get me started on cow farts. Bonus: Check out CO2 levels versus temperature graph throughout the history of earth and prepare to be amazed (or not).
• Sea: This has already been bad for a while, but now the level of contamination with micro plastic and heavy metals is so high that consuming any amount of seafood is discouraged. Another thing is that sea flows. If one part of the ocean is polluted, oceans become polluted globally due to currents.
• Land: You’ve already touched this in your "profit motive destroy everything" article, so I’ll just mentioned what is relevant to this discussion and is a really big thing in the health/environment space. Exposure to hormone and endocrine disruptors (certain pharmaceuticals, certain chemicals like artificial perfumes, plastic, and other synthetic compounds) lead to underdeveloped humans. They will end your physical growth prematurely leading to an emaciated physique. You will also be born with genetic defects that hinder your potential and makes you more prone to diseases. It’s nothing out of the ordinary for dentists to see jaws so weak they can pluck its teeth out with their bare hands. The worst part about it is that it affects you since before you’re even conceived. Unless your parents are health nuts, you are not even given a fighting chance. Of course this has a mental effect too. Women who pick wrong partners… Man who are soft and docile… It’s a dream scenario for the elites. What’s better than a population who won’t and can’t resist it’s oppressors?

It doesn’t matter what an individual becomes. When enough people are striped of food, clothes, shelter, and basic human dignity, riots will begin. That’s how governments are overthrown and perhaps the elites have learned this so they keep us distracted and entertained just enough to prevent the worst from happening.

Were the Internet such a game changer, companies would stop hiring talent they could replace with a phone. Attorneys would lose their jobs to computer-assisted legal research. If you can acquire any marketable skills online, why aren't you designing your own application CPU architecture free of bugs and backdoors?

I didn't say acquiring ALL skills is easy. But internet makes it ACCESSIBLE, without school. Just look at the invasion of indie gamedevs, something that would be thought of impossible just 2 decades ago.

Besides, when I argue against school I really do it against primary and secondary. Any that teaches specific skills for a job is fine by me.

Professional education has all the problems of secondary school, plus you need to go in debt if you hadn't managed to acquire a scholarship, or beg your parents for study money. It's all winners and losers once more. Being of legal age makes it really easy to receive a false sexual harassment charge. Adult bullies are nastier than schoolyard counterparts. Primary and secondary school really gives a foretaste of what's to come.
